Downeast Energy Scholarship Plan

The Downeast Energy Scholarship Plan was established to provide financial assistance to children* of full-time or seasonal Downeast Energy employees who are seeking a higher education.

This Plan is a formal arrangement under which Downeast Energy provides qualified undergraduate students with non-returnable grants of money to help them attend accredited post secondary and universities on a full-time basis in pursuit of bachelor's and associate degrees.

Downeast Energy's intention is to award several grants of $1000 each per academic year. The awards will be to students who are high school seniors or graduates planning to enroll, or students already enrolled in a full-time course of study leading to a bachelor's degree at an accredited post secondary or university, an associate's degree at a junior or community post secondary, or a certificate at an approved vocational technical institute.

Awards will be based on a combination of selection factors including, but not limited to, scholastic merit and participation in extracurricular activities.

*Child is defined as the son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, legally adopted child or legal ward supported principally by the employee

Downeast Energy Vocational Scholarship Plan

Downeast Energy has established a Scholarship Plan to provide financial assistance to students* who are seeking a higher education in the heating or building trades.

This Plan is a formal scholarship program. Downeast Energy will provide non-returnable grants of money to qualified undergraduate students to help them pursue a qualified course of study.

Downeast Energy's intention is to contribute a sum of money annually to a scholarship program that will award several grants of up to $1000 to qualified applicants for the academic year. Applicants will be qualified based on their scholastic merit and participation in extracurricular activities.

To qualify for a scholarship, applicants must:

  • not be the child of an employee, and
  • be a high school senior accepted into a certificate program at an approved secondary vocational technical institute on a full time basis, or a high school graduate already enrolled in same.
  • demonstrate scholastic merit and/or participation in extracurricular activities of merit (e.g., athletics, school clubs, community groups, civic organizations, etc.)

A committee will review applications and make awards based on a combination of selection factors including, but not limited to, completion of a satisfactory application demonstrating that the candidate meets the qualification criteria including scholastic merit and participation in extracurricular activities.

Qualified applicants may receive scholarships pursuant to the Downeast Energy Scholarship Plan for no more than two academic years.

*Children of employees of Downeast Energy are not eligible for this scholarship program
